COMPETITIVE TDP ACADEMY PROGRAM (U9 & Up)
The FC Metro TDP Academy Program is designed for both Male and Female Players aged U9 and up with a focus on developing the 4 pillars of player development to give players the tools they need to compete at the highest levels.
FC Metro Academy Teams will train within facilities located within the NW quadrant of the city for the Indoor Season with Training Schedules set out and communicated by the Club prior to the start of the upcoming Season and will be balanced as much as possible throughout the week. All Teams will play their games within CMSA’s city wide League (Calgary Minor Soccer Association) according to the League Structure as set out by CMSA. |
PARENT VOLUNTEERS- Volunteers are an essential part of the success of all of our programs with the common goal to create the best possible program for all of our players, parents and coaches. GENERAL PROGRAM NOTES
Training Facilities Locations
FC Metro runs the majority of its current Indoor Training/Academy Sessions at the Bearspaw Christian School (15001 - 69th Street NW); **However, FC Metro may use other venues within the NW quadrant of the city as needed to efficiently run its programs.
Training Schedules
Academy/practice sessions can be held on any day of the week. Set days are announced alongside game schedule October 26th. FC Metro may also group teams/players together for TDP Academy Sessions in an effort to maximize turf/field space.

Team Tournaments
Any and all costs for teams participating in tournaments (local or travel) are the responsibility of the team and are not included within the registration fees for the indoor season. Teams may organize team driven fund raising events to help offset incurred costs for tournaments. Please reference the FC Metro Policies & Procedures Manual for details.
Proof of Age
All NEW players to CMSA must provide the Club with documentation for their proof of age (Copy of Birth Certificate, AB Health Care Card, Passport, etc.) that clearly states their full legal name & birth date. Copies of documents must be submitted to FC Metro (via email to Operations@FCMetro.com) for players to be deemed eligible to play prior to the start of the season. This is a one time submission for new players to CMSA to allow them to create Individual Player Profiles that include a unique CMSA ID Number and also to ensure all players are registered in the appropriate brackets for their ages.
Coach Education Clinics
For ALL Volunteer Coaches & Assistant Coaches (Date, Time & Location TBD)
Player Evaluations
Player evaluations will be run October 1st-9th outdoors at the Kincora Major Field. Full schedule to be communicated once confirmed. ALL registered Players must attend evaluations.
Player Gear
All Players will receive Shorts, Socks and Academy Top. Players will also receive an FC Metro Game Jersey (which must be returned at the end of the season).
Jersey Deposit
$100 (CHEQUE) uniform deposit required - collected by team managers after team roster announcement

Programs for Players aged U14-U18 will open up as the Club continues to grow.
What is our TDP (Technical Development Plan)?
FC Metro's TDP Academy curriculum is designed to continue developing a Players "4 Pillars of Player Development" to provide our Players with every opportunity to reach their maximum potential and compete at the highest levels.
What are the 4 Pillars? Technical Develop & refine the Technical Skill Set required in game conditions. Tactical Develop an understanding of the positional responsibilities & tactics of the game. Athleticism Develop player through conditioning and preparation to compete at an elite level. Mental Develop through experience and preparation to always be alert and at the top of their game. |
FC Metro has a separate TDP Curriculum for each age group to make sure we are meeting the players needs specific to their physical and mental abilities appropriate for their Soccer Age.
Selection & Assignment of Team Coaches
FC Metro recognizes Coaches as either Parent Coaches or Independent Coaches; Parent Coaches work with a team on which the Coach’s son or daughter is a member; Independent Coaches work with teams in which the coach has no immediate family members on the Team.
FC Metro selects Coaches for teams, whether Parent or Independent, based on certain criteria and their ability to effectively coach the age group and level of the team they are assigned.
Coach Clinics & Support
FC Metro hosts its own in-house Coaching Clinics run by certified FC Metro Technical Staff for all of its Coaches and Assistant Coaches prior to the start of each Program.
FC Metro's Coach Mentorship Program provides opportunities to continue learning and developing through their attendance of sessions/games run by FC Metro Technical Staff. Coaches and Assistant Coaches are encouraged to attend Tech Sessions being run for their teams to assist as needed but also to use the session to continue learning and bettering themselves as coaches.
Coach Certification
All FC Metro Team Coaches, Assistant Coaches and Team Managers are required to provide a current and valid EPIC (Police Clearance), obtain a valid CMSA Officials ID Card and have completed the “Respect in Soccer” online course as provided by CMSA.
All FC Metro Coaches and Assistant Coaches are also required to complete their NCCP Course (National Coaching Certification Program) that is designated for the age group they are working with as follows;

FUNdamentals - U6/U8
Learning to Train - U10/U12
Soccer for Life - U14 & Up
